how this site earns, and what that does to the page

Affiliate Disclosure

We earn a commission when you book through a link here, and you pay the same either way. One programme, GetYourGuide, and it does not decide what appears on this site or in what order.

PetraTourFromAmman.com is reader-supported. This page says how the site earns money, and what that does — and does not do — to what you read here.

We are an affiliate of GetYourGuide. Book through a link on this site and GetYourGuide pays us a commission. You pay exactly what you would have paid going to them directly — the price is not marked up, and there is no version of the page where it is cheaper.

We are not part of GetYourGuide and this is not an official GetYourGuide website. Being their affiliate means they pay us for referrals; it does not mean they endorse us, and it does not give them a say in what this site says about their listings.

What An Affiliate Relationship Is

An affiliate earns a commission for referring a customer to another company. GetYourGuide is a booking platform for tours and activities; every tour compared on this site is sold there, and every booking link here carries a partner code so that a booking can be credited to us.

Why We Say So

  • Disclosure is required by law in many places — the FTC in the United States, and comparable rules in the EU, the UK and Australia
  • A site that compares things people pay for should say who pays it
  • You are entitled to know how a page you are reading makes money before you act on it

What It Does To The Content

The commission does not decide what appears here or in what order. The catalogue is not a shortlist: it is every Petra tour from Amman we could verify on the platform, sorted the way you ask, including the ones we are lukewarm about, with the reasons written down.

What we actually do:

  • We list what exists rather than a hand-picked few. All 16 listings are in the catalogue.
  • We print the rating and the number of reviews behind it, together. 15 of the 16 are rated, the lowest at 4.8; 1 is too new to be rated and is labelled new rather than dropped or promoted.
  • We print what each price does about the Petra entrance ticket, because a table sorted on the sticker price compares two different things when one includes the ticket and another does not.
  • We print the drawbacks. A tour that leaves at 06:30 and gives you four hours at the site gets both sentences.

Programmes We Take Part In

One: the GetYourGuide partner programme. That is the whole list. Where this site names something else you might buy — the Jordan Pass, a bus ticket, an entrance fee — it is named as information and not linked for money, and we earn nothing whichever way you go.

The programme itself is described at partner.getyourguide.com.

What You Can Do

Nothing is expected of you. The guides here are free to read and you can book directly with GetYourGuide or with an operator without going through us, and nothing on this site is withheld if you do.

If it has been useful and you are booking anyway, using a link here costs you nothing and keeps the site being written. Sending a correction is worth more: [email protected].
