أهلاً وسهلاً ahlan wa sahlan [welcome] · guide · the lowest place on earth
The Dead Sea is about an hour from Amman at −430 m, the lowest land on Earth. Float, mud, shade, out. If you searched "petra tour from dead sea": we do not sell that departure — our tours leave from Amman — but two of them end at the Dead Sea, and the honest alternative is on this page.
Below sea level. The lowest land on Earth.
01The answer, before the article
Not from here. Our tours depart from Amman; two of them finish at the Dead Sea. Here is what to do instead.
158 people a month search for a departure this site does not sell. Saying so plainly is worth more than a booking.
Not from here
"Petra tour from Dead Sea"
Every tour on this site departs from Amman (hotel or airport). None collects at a Dead Sea resort; we will not list one we have not vetted.

What to do instead
Take an Amman departure that ends at the Dead Sea — you float on the last afternoon instead of the first. 2-day loop, $249 →
From a Dead Sea resort, taxi to Amman (about an hour) and join the 06:30 pickup. Amman to Petra →
Ask your resort for a private driver to Petra — the same 3–3.5 hours as from Amman, at a rate the resort quotes. Ticket note: a night at the Dead Sea counts as a night in Jordan — 50 JOD, not 90. Entry fee →

Amman: Petra, Wadi Rum, and Dead Sea 2-Day Tour
2 days · ★ 4.9 (1,529 reviews) · ticket 50 JOD, not included
03The short drive
From Amman, down 1,200 m of altitude.
Amman sits at roughly 800 m; the Dead Sea shore at −430 m. The road drops the whole 1,200 m in about an hour, past the Baptism Site turning. A taxi is the practical way down. There is no scheduled bus that is useful to a visitor.
Beaches are resort beaches with a day fee, or the public beach at Amman Beach; both charge a day fee at the gate. Showers matter — the water is 34 % salt and you want it off your skin within the hour.
04Two in one trip
End at the Dead Sea: the 2-day loops and the 3-day trips.
The loops on this site run Amman → Petra → Wadi Rum → Dead Sea → Amman, so the Dead Sea is the last afternoon, when your legs have done Petra and a desert night. That is the right order: floating is what tired legs want, and the Dead Sea is an hour from your Amman hotel for the drive home.
If you are staying at a Dead Sea resort before Petra, the honest move is the one in the box above: a night there is a night in Jordan, so the Petra ticket is 50 JOD, and a private driver from the resort is the same 3–3.5 hours as from Amman, at a rate the resort quotes.
05The only place a product belongs
The two tours that answer "Petra and the Dead Sea" from Amman, with the Dead Sea where it belongs — last.

06Every answer carries a figure
Not on this site — our tours depart from Amman. Two of them end at the Dead Sea; or taxi ~1 h to Amman for the 06:30 pickup.
About 1 h by road.
−430 m, the lowest land on Earth.
Yes — any night in Jordan does.
Resort day passes and the public beach both charge at the gate, and the rates move with the season — we do not print one we have not checked this month.
Not sensibly: 3–3.5 h to Petra plus 4 h inside leaves no afternoon. Two days from $205.
Yalla [let's go]. Both Dead Sea loops are on the catalog, with the minuses printed.
